Man Arrested for DLS and Felony DUI

Charges: Driving Under the Influence (Felony), Driving with a Criminally Suspended License

Description: On July 3rd 2018 at approximately 1029 hours DFC Ian Tuttle was alerted to the possibility of a suspended operator on Bellows Falls Rd in the Town of Putney by an off duty deputy.

DFC Tuttle responded to the area and noted a registration violation on the vehicle of the suspected suspended operators vehicle. He ultimately stopped the vehicle on Small Meadows Ln and identified the operator as Gilbert J. Ramirez, 57, of Westminster. While speaking with Ramirez DFC Tuttle was able to detect the odor of intoxicants on Ramirez's breath. Standardized field sobriety tests were administered. At the conclusion of the tests Ramirez was placed under arrest for DUI (3rd offense) and DLS.

Ramirez was furthermore arrested by the Vermont Probation and Parole division and was held without bail at Southern State Correctional Facility.

Ramirez will appear in Windham Superior Court Criminal Divison at a later date to answer to the charges.
