During the President's Day Weekend 2019, the Windham County Highway Safety Task Force deployed law enforcement officers to provide high visibility saturation enforcement targeting impaired, aggressive, and dangerous driving behaviors on Route 9, Route 100, Route 30, Route 5 and Route 103. The aggregate of these driving behaviors and in these areas contribute to the majority of highway safety crashes with injuries and fatalities in Windham County. The Windham County Highway Safety Task Force is working to reduce fatal motor vehicle crashes and increase the use of occupant protection devices.
During the weekend, 135.5 hours were worked over the weekend by a total of 13 task force members, totaling 50 tickets and 31 warnings. Additionally, one person was arrested for DUI.
The Windham County Highway Safety Task Force comprises of the Bellows Falls Police Department, Brattleboro Police Department, Dover Police Department and the Windham County Sheriff's Office. This effort is made possible through the partnerships with Windham County law enforcement agencies, the State Office of Highway Safety Behavioral Change Unit, and the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration.
