Divisions

This division is responsible for providing all uniformed services of the Windham County Sheriff's Office.


The Transport Division is responsible for providing transport services of persons in custody of the State of Vermont. The movement of these persons is performed by the Windham County Sheriff's Office where legally mandated, or when the use of our staff is necessary to keep a person safe from harming themselves, or others.


This division is responsible for providing the service of civil process in Windham County, which often includes orders from the Vermont Superior Court: Civil Division. Additionally, the Civil Division is responsible for the county-wide fingerprinting station, which allows for the collection of fingerprints for professional purposes, adoptions, and other non-criminal related needs.


This division is responsible for providing all administrative services for the Windham County Sheriff's Office. Those services include the financial administration, contract administration, grant management, personnel management, and acquisitions for the Windham County Sheriff's Office.


The Southern Vermont Regional Emergency Communications Center, staffed by seven trained Emergency Communication Dispatchers, is responsible for handling the the day to day activities that keep the Windham County Sheriff's Office running smoothly.


The Windham County Sheriff’s Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes Capacity Building Program helps expand local capacity to identify and reduce lead hazards in Windham County housing, with a focus on safer homes for low- and moderate-income families. Funding may be available to eligible landlords and property owners with pre-1978 rental units, income-qualified homeowners living in pre-1978 homes, and licensed or certified contractors and housing professionals interested in performing lead hazard control work.  

Assistance may support lead paint removal, remediation, abatement, and related healthy homes improvements. The program is also developing a waiting list of properties for lead abatement work anticipated in 2026 and 2027, helping connect eligible housing providers, homeowners, and qualified contractors with resources to improve housing safety across Windham County.


Schools as well as commercial trucking companies often require the fingerprinting of staff before hiring a new employee. Our department frequently performs this service using a state-of-the-art computer that generates results quickly and efficiently.
