Tractor trailer unit destroys bank drive-thru in Putney

Incident: 21WHC002278
Date: 06/15/2021
Location: River Valley Credit Union, Putney
Investigating Deputy: Deputy Jalava

Accused: Timothy Parker
Age: 61
City & State of Residence: Baltimore, MD

Charges: Disobeying Traffic Controls (VCVC)

Description: At approximately 6:50 pm on Tuesday, June 15th, the Windham County Sheriff's Office and Putney Fire Department responded to River Valley Credit Union on Main Street in Putney for a report of a tractor-trailer unit that crashed into the bank's drive-thru/ATM awning.

The truck and attached 53-foot trailer were operated by Baltimore Maryland resident Timothy Parker. Parker was hauling over 40,000 lbs of frozen Tyson chicken for Transam Transportation out of Kansas.

The drive-thru awning was completely torn off the building and collapsed. The gutter of the awning impaled the side of the refrigerated trailer. The Department of Motor Vehicles Commercial Vehicle Enforcement was summoned to the scene for a truck inspection.

Deputy Jalava issued Parker a citation for disobeying a traffic sign. There are 5 signs on the property restricting tractor-trailers entering the parking lot due to length and height restrictions. DMV Officer Cuttita grounded the damaged trailer. Transam Transportation sent an empty trailer to retrieve the load.

This is not the first time a tractor-trailer unit has crashed into the Putney branch's drive-thru. Any additional information or questions may be directed to Deputy Bryan Jalava at or (802)365-4940
