Regional Animal Control

Our animal control officer program supports the towns of Putney, Newfane, Westminster & Windham

Recognizing a gap in services for rural towns, our office created a regional animal control officer program. Our animal control officer program currently supports the towns of Brookline, Dummerston, Grafton, Guilford, Newfane, Putney, Westminster, Windham & Vernon.

Our regional animal control officer is responsible for handling animals at large, registration requirements, vicious animals, quarantine requirements, animal welfare and animal cruelty. This would consist of livestock, domestic pets and exotics. Enforcing and educating pet owners and the general public on State Law and local ordinances. Assist regional Game Wardens with wildlife issues. Working closely with Windham County Humane Society in the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. The TNR program involves the trapping of feral or stray cats of the community, spay or neuter, and releasing them back to their original location.
