Description: On June 2nd, 2023, at approximately 2310 hours, deputies with the Windham County Sheriff's Office located an abandoned stolen vehicle in the far corner of the Sunoco gas station parking lot, located at 2536 US Rt. 5 in Dummerston, VT. The Windham County Sheriff's Office is looking for any information regarding any suspicious activity in this parking lot during the early morning hours of June 1st, 2023, primarily involving a white Ram pickup truck with two red kayaks in the back. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach Det. Sgt. Mario Checchi at the Windham County Sheriff's Office.

Description: On June 7th, 2023, at approximately 1500 hours, Deputies with the Windham County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a vehicle that had crashed on Pine Lane in Jamaica VT. The caller advised the Operator was no longer at the scene and the vehicle had substantial damage.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Henry A Herrera was traveling south on Route 30 when he swerved and made contact with a guardrail. The vehicle subsequently crossed the yellow lines, passed through the north bound lane, drove across a yard, made its way through the woods and across Pine Ln where the vehicle became in operable. Mr. Herrera subsequently left the scene.
Mr. Herrera was contacted by deputies and subsequently charged with the above violations.
Mr. Herrera was issued a citation into the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date.

Charges: Receiving Stolen Property; Arrest on Warrants
Description: The Windham County Sheriff's Office received a complaint in late May, 2023, of a residential burglary on Middletown Rd. in Londonderry, VT. Deputies identified suspects in this case and worked at tracking down their current location as well as the location of items stolen from the residence. During the late evening hours of May 31st, 2023, deputies along with officers with the Rutland Town Police Department executed a search warrant of a room at the Cortina Inn in Rutland Town, VT.
A suspect in this case, Sarah M. Weitzel, was arrested regarding two active arrest warrants and also issued a citation for criminal charges of receiving stolen property regarding this investigation. Deputies located multiple reported stolen items in the room, reported to belong to the victim. Weitzel was held on her arrest warrants and lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center and issued a citation to appear at a later date. This investigation remains open.

Description: On 05/26/23 at approximately 1305 hours, the Megan Machado was arrested by the Windham County Sheriff's Office following a traffic stop on Rockingham Rd in Rockingham. During the stop a DMV check showed that Megan was under suspension in the State of Vermont for a prior DUI and is also required to only operate vehicles with an ignition interlock device installed. Megan was released from the scene on a citation to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date.

Description: On January 25, 2023 at approximately 1749 hours, a Deputy with the Windham County Sheriff's Office responded to a vehicle in a ditch due to slippery roads conditions. The operator identified as Sarah Cassell. A DMV check showed that Ms. Cassell did not have a Valid license and that this was her second offense within two years of driving without a valid license. Ms. Cassell was released on a citation into the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date. She was also issued a VCVC for operating an unregistered vehicle.

The Windham County Sheriff's Department is currently seeking the rightful owners of several items currently stored at their office. The items currently available range from evidence that has been released to property being held for safekeeping. If you believe your property is being held, you may contact Deputy Micah Fisher. A description of the property as well as proof of ownership will be required. All items left unclaimed after ninety (90) days will be considered abandoned property.

Description: On 05/21/23 at approximately 1605 hours Erika S. Moore was arrested by the Windham County Sheriff's Office after Sgt. Norton observed the vehicle she was operating to be travelling 114 mph in the posted 65 mph speed zone on I-91 between Exit 2 and Exit 3 in Brattleboro. Erika was released at the scene on a citation to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date. She was also issued a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.

Description: On 05/18/23 at approximately 1300 hours, Elizabeth M Dery was arrested by the Windham County Sheriff's Office following a traffic stop on Linden St in Brattleboro. Elizabeth's privilege to operate was found to be suspended and she was currently out on two court ordered conditions of release orders that also prohibited her from operating a motor vehicle.
Elizabeth was released from the scene on a citation to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date. She was also issued a traffic ticket for failing to have liability insurance and the vehicle was towed from the scene by Scott Brooks Towing per her request.

Description: On May 13th, 2023, at approximately 2230 hours, deputies from the Windham County Sheriff's Office, assigned to a highway safety detail, stopped a vehicle on Rt. 103 in the Town of Rockingham. During the course of the traffic stop, a passenger in the vehicle provided conflicting information regarding their identity. This individual was subsequently identified and found to be Jacob B. Thayer. Thayer was found to have an active arrest warrant in the Vermont Superior Court-Criminal Division-Windham Unit for the following charges: three counts of 1st Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault and one count of Interference with Access to Emergency Services. The arrest warrant was issued to hold without bail.
Thayer was taken into custody by deputies and processed at the Bellows Falls Police Department. He was then transported to the Southern State Correctional Facility and held without bail.

Description: On March 27th, 2023 at approximately 13:10 Deputies with the Windham County Sheriff’s Office were traveling south on Route 5 in the town of Dummerston, When they Noticed a group of people running toward the wood line beside Supreme Fitness and a single vehicle within the breakdown lane with their hazards on. The Deputies proceeded to turn around and after investigation learned that a 2023 Acura Integra going North on Route 5 passed a vehicle on the right side of the road striking the rear right portion of the vehicle and the guardrail. The vehicle proceeded North and eventually went through the Supreme Fitness parking lot where it crashed through multiple trees and stopped sideways in the tree line. The vehicle sustained Heavy damage and The operator of the Integra was identified as Amanda, L, Sabo of Westminster, VT and was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Once Sabo was released from the Hospital, she was located at her residence were she was Cited and released for the charge of Negligent Operation of a motor vehicle and was ordered to appear on 05/30/23.
