Description: In July of 2025, the Windham County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into Ryan Etheze for sexual assault. Investigation revealed that Etheze attempted to sexually assault a female. Probable cause also existed to charge Etheze with Aggravated Assault and Lewd and Lascivious Conduct stemming from this incident.
A Detective with the Windham County Sheriff's Office applied for and was granted an arrest warrant for Etheze in October of 2025. Over the course of several months, the Windham County Sheriff's Office attempted to locate Etheze with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies in Vermont and New Hampshire. Etheze surrendered to deputies on 1/7/26 where he was held without bail and lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility. Etheze will be seen in court on 1/8/26 at 1 pm.
The Windham County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Orleans County Sheriff's Office, the Bellows Falls Police Department, and the Bow and Raymond (NH) Police Departments for their assistance.

2025 Holiday DUI Enforcement Mobilization- Windham County Highway Safety Task Force
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 01/06/2026 6:58 PMBetween 12/12/25 and 01/01/26 the Windham County Highway Safety Task Force conducted patrols as part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Holiday DUI Campaign. The event culminated on New Years Eve with three saturation patrols conducted in the Brattleboro, Rockingham and Dover areas. Taking part in the patrols were members of the Windham County Sheriff's Office, Bellows Falls Police Department, Brattleboro Police Department, Dover Police Department and the Chester Police Department.
During the course of the campaign, 145 vehicles were stopped with 7 arrests made and 51 traffic tickets being issued.
I would like to thank all the individual participants and agencies for allowing them to participate in the campaign.
I would also like to thank the public for, by and large, doing the right thing and not driving impaired over this very busy holiday season!

Description: On January 2nd, 2026, a Detective with the Windham County Sheriff's Office learned of an active arrest warrant for Sidney Rivers Jr., issued by the Superior Court of Vermont-Criminal Division-Windham Unit for the above charges. Deputies developed information of the possible whereabouts of Mr. Rivers and ultimately located him at a facility in Vernon, VT later in the evening. Rivers was taken into custody by deputies without incident and later lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility.

Description: On the aforementioned date and time, Deputies responded to the area of Henwood Hill Rd in the town of Westminster for a report of a male shooting a rifle in the direction of field workers. After subsequent investigation it was discovered that Ethan R. Illingworth had been shooting the rifle and put the field workers in fear of serious bodily injury/death. The rifle was seized by deputies and Illingworth was cited to appear in Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date.
