Description: On September 12th, 2026, Deputies with the Windham County Sheriff's Office responded to an address in Vernon, Vermont for a reported domestic assault. Subsequent investigation revealed that Timothy D, Forrett Jr of Vernon, Vermont committed the offense of 1st degree aggravated domestic assault against a household or family member. Forrett also prevented the household or family member from access to emergency services. Forrett initially left the residence but later surrendered to Deputies without incident.

Forrett was processed at the Windham County Sheriff's Office and later lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Negligent Discharge of a Firearm Putney

Description: On September 8, 2026, the Windham County Sheriff's Office received a report of a negligent discharge of a firearm that caused damage to an outbuilding.
The incident occurred on Saturday September 5, 2026 at dusk during a softball game that was being held at the field on Sand Hill Road. Witnesses reported hearing approximately 6-8 gunshots in the area of the field parking area. No injuries were reported. It is believed that this was an isolated incident and that there is no immediate threat of danger to the community.

Description: May 16th, 2026 at approximately 0017 hours Deputies with the Windham County Sheriff's Office were patrolling the Town of Putney, Vermont. While performing routine checks of the Putney Boat Launch located off Putney Landing Road a deputy located a GMC Acadia with two subjects inside later identified as Craig McNary of Hinsdale, NH and Jodi Ecklund of Brattleboro, Vermont. Deputies learned that McNary and Ecklund both have court ordered conditions of release to not have contact with one another and were both placed under arrest. As part of McNary's conditions of release, he is also not allowed to possess dangerous or deadly weapons. During McNary's arrest a deputy observed multiple large bayonet style knifes and based off this information consent to search was requested and promptly denied.

Both McNary and Ecklund were transported to the Windham County Sheriff's Office to be processed, and the GMC Acadia was seized pending an application for a search warrant. Ecklund was later released on conditions of release and McNary was later held on $500 bail at Southern State Correctional Facility.

On May 20th, 2026 Deputies were granted a court ordered search warrant for the GMC Acadia, upon searching said vehicle deputies located multiple firearms and homemade explosive devices in the trunk of the vehicle. The Vermont State Police Bomb Squad was notified and responded until eventually rendering the devices safe. Deputies were then able to finish the search warrant and seized the firearms ammunition and large capacity magazines

Description: On the aforementioned date and time, Deputies responded to a residence located on River Road South in the town of Putney for a report of a Domestic Disturbance. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of a juvenile for domestic assault. The juvenile was transported to the Windham County Sheriff's Office and was issued juvenile flash citation to appear in Windham Superior Court, Family Division the following day. The juvenile was released on conditions.

Description: On 08/30/26 at approximately 1520 hours, Nathan E. Kehoe was stopped after the vehicle he was operating was observed traveling 85 mph in the legally posted 50 mph speed zone on Rockingham Rd (VT Route 103) in Rockingham. Nathan was released from the scene on a citation to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date. He was also issued a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.

Description: On August 28th, 2026, at approximately 2237 hours, deputies with the Windham County Sheriff's Office arrested a wanted fugitive on US RT 5 in Rockingham, VT. The fugitive, Korbyn Bacon, had been sought by Deputies after having been notified by the Vermont Department of Corrections-Springfield Probation and Parole of the active arrest warrant days prior. Bacon had been previously convicted of Assault and Robbery with Injury.

Deputies located Bacon walking along US Rt 5 in the Town of Rockingham and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Southern State Correctional Facility to be held on the mittimus.

Description: On 08/05/26 at approximately 1700 hours, Jeffrey S. Caron was stopped by the Windham County Sheriff's Office after the vehicle he was operating was observed to be traveling 96 mph in the legally posted 65 mph speed zone. Jeffrey was released from the scene on a citation to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date. He was also issued a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.

Safety and Sobriety Checkpoint in Windham County

The Windham County Sheriff's Office will be partnering with other local area law enforcement agencies to conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Windham County during the month of September.

As of August 24, 2026, Vermont roadways have seen 31 fatal crashes resulting in 34 fatalities. Of these 31 crashes, 15 operators were suspected of operating their vehicles under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or a combination of both.

By conducting this checkpoint, the law enforcement agencies of Windham County work toward a common goal of keeping our roadways safe by reducing the number of impaired driving crashes throughout the state.

If you drink, plan a sober ride home. Drive safe.

DUI #3, Neg Op - Westminster

Description:


On August 16th, 2026 Deputies with the Windham County Sheriff's office conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 5 in Westminster, Vermont near Allen Brothers after observing several traffic violations.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Keri Mammone of Westminster, Vermont. While Deputies spoke with Mammone, deputies observed signs of alcohol impairment and a DUI Investigation began. At the conclusion of testing Mammone was placed under arrest and transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for processing. At the conclusion of Processing Mammone turned and spit saliva at a deputy. Mammone was Issued a criminal citation to appear before the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division on September 1st, 2026 at 0830 hours. Mammone was then released to a sober adult.

Charges: Attempting to Elude, Grossly Negligent Operation

Description: On August 5th, 2026, at approximately 1109 hours, a Detective with the Windham County Sheriff's Office was driving south on Interstate 91 near MM 24 in the Town of Westminster. The Detective was passed by a motor vehicle that was driving at an estimated speed well in excess of 100 mph. The Detective activated his emergency lights and shortly after, audible siren, but the vehicle, an Audi, failed to yield and passed other vehicles and continued to drive aggressively at a high rate of speed.

Due to the extreme speed and safety concerns for the public, the Detective discontinued pursuit, but observed the Audi exit I91 via Exit 4 in Putney, VT. The Detective was able to determine the Audi drove south on US Rt 5, now in Dummerston. Deputies canvased the area and later located two individuals walking on a logging road off from US Rt 5 in Dummerston. At the conclusion of the investigation, the Audi was located hidden on the logging road and the operator, Haroon Ahmed, was arrested and transported to the Windham County Sheriff's Office. He was processed and released on a criminal citation to appear at a later date.
