DUI Arrest - Guilford

1) Driving under the influence first offense

Description: On May 18th, 2025 at approximately 0022 hours, deputies with the Windham County Sheriff's Office located a vehicle on Interstate 91 northbound in the area of the Welcome center stopped on the right side of the road with part of the vehicle in the right travel lane. A deputy checked on the operator who was found to be asleep with the vehicle running. Deputies woke the operator up and observed several clues of impairment.

Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Jason A, Smidy for driving under the influence. Smidy was transported to the Brattleboro Police Department for processing and at the conclusion of processing he was issued a Vermont criminal citation to appear at the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date.

Negligent Operation and Excessive Speed in Newfane

1) Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
2) Excessive Speed

Description: On 05/11/25 at approximately 1820 hours, John R. Faulkner was arrested by the Windham County Sheriff's Office after the vehicle he was operating was observed passing other northbound vehicles and traveling 95 mph in the posted 50 mph speed zone in Newfane. John was released from the scene on a citation to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date. He was also issued a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.
